Rare special order Winchester Model 1892 under lever action “Short” rifle s/n 140111 manufactured circa 1900 with factory 16 inch octagonal barrel and full magazine. Chambered in desirable 44-40 WCF calibre. Blued barrel, receiver and crescent butt-plate, with varnished straight-grain walnut stock. Section one certificate or RFD required. British-proofed with minimal markings.
Two-line barrel address: “MANUFACTURED BY THE / WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN. CONN. U.S.A.” Upper tang bears the early markings: “MODEL 1892. / -WINCHESTER- / PAT. OCT. 14. 1884”. Rear sight elevation piece notched for 50 to 200 yards in 50 yards steps. Nickel-silver fixed blade front sight with screw.
Overall very good condition with strong traces of original blue on the barrel and receiver. Traces of case colours to the lever. This rare short rifle has a very good 7/10 bright bore with good rifling and the action is good and in full working order.
