Scarce Third Model Winchester Model 1876 lever action carbine s/n 53269 in obsolete 45/75 calibre, manufactured circa 1884.

This saddle ring carbine with its distinctive long forearm with steel forearm tip and a single barrel band is secured by a band spring. A staple mounted saddle ring is located on the left side of the receiver.

This is a third model with an integral dust cover rail. The dust cover has serrated edges. The round barrel has a steel block front sight and a folding leaf rear sight. The top of the barrel is roll-stamped with the two-line address “WINCHESTER’S-REPEATING-ARMS-NEW HAVEN. CT. / KINGS-IMPROVEMENT-PATENTED-MARCH 29. 1866. OCTOBER 16. 1860.”. The calibre marking of 45-75 in script is stamped on the brass cartridge elevator. The top tang on the receiver shows “MODEL. 1876” within brackets. The serial number “53269” is stamped in script numerals on the bottom tang between the lever latch and the tang screw. The oiled straight grain walnut stock has a steel carbine style butt-plate.

This scarce 1876 carbine is in very good original condition with some original finish remaining. The markings on the barrel, cartridge elevator and receiver are strong. Overall there is handling and storage wear. This is a very good, original example of a scarce Winchester Model 1876 carbine.
