Very fine condition Smith & Wesson Model 3 First Model American single action revolver serial number 5621 shipped on 29 September 1871, in obsolete 44 S&W American calibre. This revolver has an 8 inch barrel, with adjustable rear target sight and six shot fluted cylinder. Blue finish with case coloured hammer and trigger-guard and furnished with two-piece smooth walnut grips. Assembly number “19” stamped on barrel, latch, cylinder and grip-strap. The Smith & Wesson historical letter states that this revolver was shipped to Smith & Wesson’s largest distributor, M.W. Robinson, New York City, New York. The records indicate that this firearm was shipped with an 8 inch barrel, and smooth walnut grips. The shipment was for 100 units which were a mix of both blue and nickel finishes.
Condition: The revolver is in very fine condition with a high percentage of original blue to the barrel, frame and cylinder, with strong case colours to the hammer and trigger-guard. The smooth walnut grips numbered to the gun on the right-hand grip are in excellent condition. Bright bore, good action and all matching serial numbers and assembly numbers.
