The right side of the receiver is stamped “C. SHARPS’ PAT. / OCT. 5TH 1852.” On the left side of the receiver is stamped “C. SHARPS PAT. / SEPT. 12th 1848”. The barrel address reads “OLD RELIABLE” within a rectangular border, followed by “SHARPS RIFLE CO. BRIDGEPORT. CONN.” On the breech end of the barrel is stamped “CALIBRE 45” over “2 1/10”. The rear top tang is stamped “C 41037”. The octagonal barrel serial number under the forend is “32782”. The rifle has iron furniture, with a walnut stock and forend numbered 32782. Reloading equipment included.
Nice patina with no original finish. Some of the markings are faint. Good working order with bright 9/10 bore.
