Fully nickel plated Remington-Smoot New Model No. 3 revolver s/n 17976, manufactured circa 1878-1888 with birds-head grip, 3 ¾ inch octagonal barrel, integral with frame and ejector rod. One-line barrel address ‘E. REMINGTON & SONS, ILION, N.Y. PAT. W.S. SMOOT OCT. 21, 1873.’ Five shot cylinder, chambered in obsolete .38 rimfire short calibre. Two-piece chequered hard rubber grips. The frame, barrel and ejector housing were all in one piece. This model was a competitor to the Colt New Line revolvers. Total production only about 25,000.
Very good condition with some storage marks and scuffs. Good working order.
