Remington-Rider five-shot Double-Action Pocket conversion revolver serial number 7172, manufactured circa 1860-1873 in .32 rimfire calibre, with three inch octagonal barrel. Probably the first American double action revolver chambered for a metallic cartridge.
Barrel address: ‘MANUFACTURED BY REMINGTON ILION. N.Y. / RIDERS PT. AUG. 17. 1858. MAY 3. 1859’. Serial numbered 7172 under the barrel, forward of the trigger and under the grip. Factory installed newly made cylinder, with removable cover plate at the rear. Large oval shaped German silver trigger-guard, chequered hard-rubber grips and pin type front sight. Blued barrel frame and hammer. Good action and in good working order.
