Henry Deringer percussion derringer. This small sized pistol in .40 rifled calibre was manufactured circa 1850 to 1870. It features a two inch browned barrel marked at the breech “DERINGER / PHILADEL’A”. It is proofed with a sunburst “P”. It has a German silver bladed dovetail front sight and a V notch rear sight. The foliate scrolled engraved right sideplate is marked “DERINGER / PHILADELA”. The classic chequered walnut birdshead grip is mounted with an engraved German silver inset.

Overall in fine condition. The barrel retains generous amounts of browning with some fading. The action has drifted to a pleasing grey patina. The engraving remains sharp. The stock is very good. Very strong bore showing little use, crisp mechanics. A very good example of an iconic pistol.
