Early and rare, silver-plated (only 5 known with this configuration) National Arms Co. Single Shot No. 2 Deringer s/n 5626 with two-inch barrel and brass frame, manufactured circa 1865. Chambered in obsolete .41 short rimfire calibre with rare 2 inch barrel, which twists sideways to load. Manufactured without knife blade extractor. Chequered two-piece walnut grips with birds-head grip. Decorative broad scroll engraving on frame and breech of barrel. Top of barrel marked “NATIONAL ARMS Co.”
The company was purchased by Colt in 1870 and production of this model continued under their own name. Retaining most of its original silver-plating to its barrel and frame. Rare early address and serial numbers, with good bore. An excellent example of this almost impossible variation to find National deringer.
