Excellent James Dixon & Sons Sheffield marked “COLTS POCKET FLASK” bag-type powder flask with lanyard ring, manufactured by Dixon & Sons of Sheffield, for the Colt Model 1849 London Pocket percussion revolver in .31 calibre and also Colt Model 1855 Root percussion revolvers in .31 calibre that were shipped to the Colt factory in London and later at Colt’s London Agency at 14, Pall Mall after the manufactory closed in 1857.

“COLTS POCKET FLASK” bag-type powder flask with lanyard ring, manufactured by Dixon & Sons of Sheffield, under contract to Colt. The brass circular top is stamped “JAMES DIXON / & SONS / SHEFFIELD” and “COLTS POCKET FLASK” in an arc.  The three-position charger is 2/8, 3/8 and 4/8 drams. The end of the charger is chamfered, to accept the chamber of the cylinder. The brass top is polished, with a fire-blue spring. The body is a dark brown / red lacquer.

Several minor scuffs on the charger and one or two minute dents to the bag section. Overall excellent to near mint and very difficult to improve upon. Rapley F#41
