High grade, engraved, Colt Model 1883 Double Barrel Hammerless Shotgun s/n 1731, manufactured circa 1886, in obsolete 10 Gauge. Side by side 30 inch browned Damascus barrels, with case coloured box-lock action.

Varnished chequered walnut stocks with pistol grip and chequered hard rubber butt-plate, showing the company logo of the Rampant Colt within an oval. Address on barrel rib reads: “COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A.”

Elaborately engraved with game scenes and hounds on both sides of the action and on the blued trigger-guard, with delicate Damascus patterns. The underside of the action reads “PATENTED” “AUG 22” / “SEPT 19” “1882” in fancy script.

Total manufactured about 7,366 from 1883-1895. Fine condition with bright bore and in good working order.
