Rare George Woodhead of Sheffield, Bowie knife with half-horse, half alligator pommel and mother of pearl grip scales, which taper to the one-piece German silver, oval shaped, plain hilt. The pearl handle is secured with four pins, with an oval shaped shield inset in to the middle, on the front side of the knife. The knife is overall, 14 inches long with an 8 7/8 inches, clip-point blade. The ricasso bears the “G. WOODHEAD / 36 HOWARD STREET / SHEFFIELD” address.
The sheaf is red leather, with a gilt embossed floral emblem on the front, complimented with German silver tip and throat. The scabbard is 9 5/8 inches long by 1 3/4 inches wide. There has been a repair to the red leather.
