Excellent Colt Third Model deringer serial number 40045 in obsolete .41 short rim-fire calibre with deluxe figured walnut two-piece grips, manufactured circa 1870 to 1912 at Colt P.T.F.A.Mfg. Co. factory in Hartford, Connecticut, U.S.A..
It is a 5th variation with large block letters “COLT” on the top of the barrel, slant hammer with large frame and open grip. It is finished with blued barrel and silver-plated frame, stamped “41 CAL” on the left side below the firewall. It is complimented with deluxe figured walnut two-piece grips. All screws are fire-blued.
Colt Third Model derringer serial number 40045 is in excellent condition. It retains nearly all its original nickel-plating to the frame and most original blue to the barrel. The hammer & trigger retain most of their original case-hardening. All screws have most of their original fire-blue finish. The bore is very good with no sign of pitting. The action is perfect.
