Beautiful Ulrich factory style engraved Winchester Model 1866 lever action rifle s/n 36462 manufactured circa 1870 with blued 24 inch octagonal barrel, crescent buttplate and special order sling swivels. The stock and forend feature a wonderful flamed tiger-striped select walnut grain.

Bold foliate scrollwork engraving on a finely stippled background with finely detailed borders to both sides of the “mustard” coloured brass receiver, top and bottom tangs, including around the serial number on the bottom tang, forend cap and buttplate. There are entwined scrolls with two open inscription panels on either side of the receiver for use if called upon for special orders.

The 24 inch octagonal barrel bears the two-line address “WINCHESTER’S – REPEATING ARMS. NEW HAVEN. CT. / KING’S – IMPROVEMENT – PATENTED – MARCH 29. 1866. OCTOBER 16. 1860.” with full magazine tube. It has a sporting front sight, rear ladder sight and sling swivels to forend cap and stock. The trap on the butt-plate is missing its 4-piece cleaning rod.

Overall an excellent beautifully engraved “66 Yellow Boy”, circa 1870 with desirable octagonal barrel and special order sling swivels. Retaining most of its original blue to the barrel and faint case colours to the lever. The receiver, buttplate and forend cap retain their “mustard” uncleaned yellow colour. A “Yellow Boy” that would grace any Winchester or Western themed collection. The action is in good working order.
