Colt First Model deringer serial number 3088, in obsolete .41 rim-fire short calibre. Total numbers of this model produced, is thought to be about 6,500. All First models were manufactured circa 1867 to 1890 at the Hartford factory. Markings on top of the barrel are: ‘Colt PT. F.A.MFG. Co / Hartford CT. U.S.A.’ with large ‘No 1 straddling both lines and a Maltese cross motif at either end of the address. The frame has the standard amount of factory engraving. The serial numbers 3088 are stamped on the butt and under the barrel, towards the breech end. On the right side of the frame, under the barrel release button is stamped ‘41 CAL’.

It has a blued barrel retaining 85% plus original even blue finish and an engraved iron frame, which shows 70% original silver-plating. There is an area close to the butt, showing bare metal. The hammer and trigger show approx. 40% case colours. This petite deringer is accompanied with a very attractive, original tooled leather holster marked ‘HANS VANHEES / MAKER’. 

All screws are in very good condition.  The bore is 8 out of 10 with small areas of pitting. The action is perfect. Very nice example and extra special with its original tooled leather holster.
