Excellent Colt Model 1862 Police Percussion Revolver s/n 35980 with 4½ inch round barrel with one-line barrel address which reads “ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA”. Manufactured circa 1867 in .36 calibre.
The 4½ inch round barrel has a brass cone front sight. The frame is stamped “COLTS/PATENT” on the left side and “36 CAL” is stamped on the left trigger guard shoulder with an inspectors letter “B” on the forward section.
The barrel and cylinder retain almost all of its deep high polish blue and the loading lever, hammer and frame retains most of its vibrant colour case hardening. The brass back-strap and trigger-guard show traces of silver-plating. The revolver is complimented with high quality varnished one-piece walnut grips. All serial numbers “35980” are matching including barrel, rear of cylinder (5980) frame, trigger-guard, wedge and arbour pin.
This beautiful little revolver is in exceptional condition retaining 90 -95% original bright dark blue and vivid original case colours. The brass back-strap and trigger-guard retain traces of silver-plating. The cylinder retains all of its five locating pins at the rear. The one-piece walnut grips retain 98% of their glossy original varnish. Mechanically excellent and in good working order. The bore is bright 10/10 with strong rifling. The action is in good working order
