Pre-Civil war period, civilian Colt Fourth Model 1851 navy percussion revolver s/n 58210, manufactured circa 1856 with iron back-strap and large iron trigger-guard. It has a 7½ inch octagonal barrel with address: ‘- ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW-YORK CITY –’. The left side of the frame is marked ‘COLTS/PATENT’ with inspectors letter “L” stamped on the left side of the trigger-guard. The barrel, cylinder and trigger are blued and the frame, loading lever and hammer are case-coloured. The iron back-strap and iron trigger-guard are silver-plated. The revolver is complimented, with one-piece varnished walnut grips.
The revolver is in good condition with a patina finish and no silver-plating remaining on the back-strap and trigger-guard. The cylinder retains remnants of all six locking pins on the rear of the cylinder. The bore has strong rifling and is about 7/10 bright. All matching numbers 58210 including the wedge. Overall in good condition with good tight action.
