Provenance: The Webley Solid Frame was introduced by Webley around 1859 and featured some important improvements over the earlier Wedge Frame, it utilized a solid one piece frame into which the barrel screwed as a permanent fixture, thus ensuring perfect rigidity, the cylinder being held in position by a removable axis pin, the pin being a sliding fit through holes in the rear and front of the frame. The Solid Frame revolver was made in relatively small numbers.
