Early, presentation quality Cased Factory Engraved, British proofed Colt Model 1851 London Navy six shot percussion revolver serial number 8410, dating to 1854. All matching numbers including the wedge. Octagonal 7 ½ inch barrel with address “ADDRESS. COL. COLT.LONDON” within arrows pointing inwards at both ends on the top flat. Early style of sparse vine leaf engraving, to barrel, frame, loading lever, hammer and grip-straps. The “COLT’S / PATENT” is hand engraved, within a banner, on the left side of the frame. Blue finish to barrel and cylinder with case coloured frame, loading lever and hammer. Blued iron backstrap and large trigger-guard and one-piece varnished walnut grips.
All six pins are intact at the rear of the cylinder. Minty 9/10 bright bore with strong rifling. Contained in its original London mahogany case, with vacant brass escutcheon, in the lid. The case is lined throughout in bright red beige with brass circular knob handle on the top right compartment. The accessories include a “COLT’S/PATENT” .36 iron mould, “JAMES.DIXON/& SONS/SHEFFIELD” bag type flask, rare large diameter galvanised “W & C ELEY” cap tin, cleaning rod and nipple key. The gun and accessories are all in overall fine to excellent condition.
