Presentation quality, deluxe brass-bound, mahogany cased, early factory engraved British-proofed Hartford-London Colt Model 1851 Navy percussion revolver s/n 1129/. manufactured circa 1853.
Six shot percussion revolver, dating to 1853. All matching numbers except the wedge which is unnumbered. Octagonal 7 ½ inch barrel with address “ADDRESS COL: COLT. LONDON.” with arrows pointing inwards at both ends on the top flat. Blue finish to barrel and cylinder with case coloured frame, loading lever and hammer. Silver-plated brass back-strap and small brass trigger-guard and one-piece slim-jim finely figured varnished walnut grips. Early style, sparse vine leaf engraving, to barrel, frame, loading lever and grip-straps. The “COLT’S / PATENT” is hand engraved, within a banner, on the left side of the frame.
Original brass-bound mahogany case, with vacant central circular brass plaque, surrounded by a sunken circular brass carrying ring. The case is lined in green beige, with an original “DIRECTIONS FOR LOADING COLT’S PISTOLS” label on the inside lid of the case. Accessories include: “JAMES DIXON / & SONS / SHEFFIELD” bag-type flask, rare galvanised 500 count cap tin, with “W. & C. Eley” green label, early brass .36 Navy bullet mould with sprue-cutter, L-shaped nipple key, iron-headed cleaning rod, spare nipples, small pewter oil bottle, key, lead shot and assorted bits and pieces.
Overall in excellent plus condition, with more that 90% original deep blue finish and strong case colours. The cylinder has a 100% scene This fabulous example has a bright 10/10 bore, with all the pins on the back of the cylinder. The action is in good working order.
