This Police percussion revolver, weighing one pound and ten ounces, is in 36 calibre with a five shot rebated and half fluted cylinder. The cylinder retains all of its pins at the rear of the five chambers. It has a round barrel with the creeping style loading lever. The barrel and cylinder are blued and the frame, hammer, and lever are case-hardened. The grips are made of one-piece walnut with silver-plated brass back-strap and trigger-guard. Overall in excellent condition with approx. 90% plus bright blue to barrel and 65% plus bright blue to cylinder. There is a slight blemish on the left side of the barrel above the wedge. There are approx. 85% strong case colours to the frame, 40% to the loading lever and 30% to the hammer. There are strong traces of silver-plating to the back-strap and trigger-guard. The one-piece walnut grips retain virtually all its varnish. The bore is 9/10 plus bright with great rifling. The action is in good working order. All matching numbers including the wedge.
Cased in its original walnut case to fit a Colt Model 1862 Police percussion revolver, with 6½ inch barrel. Accessories include a “COLTS / PATENT” one-sided eagle & shield flask, “ELEY BROS” Manufacturers, London, 250 count cap tin with green label, Colt Police mould stamped 36P with sprue cutter stamped “COLT’S / PATENT” and nipple key. Also loose conical and round lead balls.
