Rare and original, deluxe brass-bound oak cased pair, of an early factory engraved Hartford-London Colt Model 1851 Navy percussion revolver s/n 1617/. (circa 1853) and a factory engraved Colt Model 1849 London Pocket percussion revolver s/n 2876/. (circa 1854) with a five inch barrel.
Original brass-bound double case, with central circular brass plaque, bearing an image of a Bishop’s mitre hat, surrounded by a sunken circular brass carrying ring. The case is lined in green beige, with an original “DIRECTIONS FOR LOADING COLT’S PISTOLS” label on the inside lid of the case. The case will accept a Colt London Navy and a Colt London 1849 Pocket. Accessories include: “JAMES DIXON / & SONS / SHEFFIELD” stamped “COLTS NAVY FLASK”, rare 500 count cap tin, two London iron bullet moulds, one .36 and the other .31 calibre, two L-shaped nipple keys, two wooden-handles cleaning rods, spare nipples, two pewter oil bottles, one marked “JAMES DIXON / & SONS / SHEFFIELD” and assorted bits and pieces. Less than a hand-full of Pocket and Navy combination cased sets, are known to exist.
Overall in very fine condition, with much original finish. Both guns are in good working order.
