Fine, cased British proofed, Colt Model 1849 London Pocket percussion revolver s/n 2659, with four inch barrel, manufactured circa 1854. Cased in its original mahogany case, with blue lining and ‘DIRECTIONS FOR LOADING COLT’S PISTOLS’ label inside the lid and a vacant brass escutcheon on the outside. This London Pocket is in fine to excellent original condition retaining approx. 70% original blue to the barrel, cylinder and grip-straps, 45% strong case colours to the frame, loading lever and hammer. The one-piece walnut grips retain 95% plus of their original varnish. The cylinder scene is 100% and all five cylinder pins remain intact. The screw heads are excellent and the action is in good working order.
Accessories include: ‘JAMES DIXON / & SONS / SHEFIELD’ with ‘COLTS POCKET FLASK”, Eley Bros 500 count cap tin with green label, ‘COLT’S PATENT’ .31 calibre mould for casting a round and conical shaped lead bullet, cleaning rod and a nipple key. All accessories are in fine condition.
