Fine, cased British proofed, Colt Model 1849 London Pocket percussion revolver s/n 1642, with desirable six inch barrel, manufactured circa 1854, retailed by John Blanch & Son of London. Cased in its original mahogany case, with blue lining and retailers label inside the lid and a vacant brass escutcheon on the outside. This London Pocket is in fine original condition retaining approx. 45% original blue to the barrel, cylinder and grip-straps, 60% strong case colours to the frame, loading lever and hammer. The one-piece walnut grips retain 95% plus of their original varnish. The cylinder scene is 90% plus. The screw heads are excellent and the action is good.
Accessories include: ‘JAMES DIXON / & SONS / SHEFFIELD’ bag type flask in near mint condition, a large Eley Bros cap tin with green label, excellent ‘COLT’S PATENT’ .31 calibre mould for casting a round and conical shaped lead bullet, cleaning rod and a nipple key. All accessories are in fine condition.
