Martially inspected “WAT” and “JH” brass straight-leg mould with heel for .44 calibre Colt 2^nd Model Dragoon percussion revolver. 

.44 brass straight leg mould with iron spruecutter, for the Colt 2^nd Model Dragoon percussion revolvers. Straight leg mould, stamped “COLTS / PATENT” without an apostrophe, on the top face of the “in the white” sprue-cutter, close to the hinge. The right leg is stamped “WAT” and the left leg is stamped “JH”. There is an inspector’s stamp “R” on the sprue cutter. The two cavities, are for a round ball, nearest the hinge pin and a pointed conical with a heel base and a narrow grease groove. The groove helps facilitate loading into the cylinder chamber. The locating pin is on the right leg. This mould is correct for .44 calibre Colt 2^nd Model Dragoon percussion revolvers.
