Bag-type powder flask with lanyard ring, manufactured by Dixon & Sons of Sheffield. The brass circular top is stamped “JAMES DIXON / & SONS / SHEFFIELD”. This flask, is for British percussion Pocket pistols and for the Colt Model 1849 London Pocket percussion revolver, also Colt Model 1855 Root percussion revolvers in .31 calibre, that were shipped to Colt’s London Agency at 14, Pall Mall.
The three-position charger is 2/8, 3/8 and 4/8 drams. The end of the charger is chamfered, to accept the chamber of the cylinder. The brass top is polished, with a fire-blue spring. The body is a dark brown / red lacquer.
Excellent condition, no dents and minor staining.
